Draught Beer is Finally Here!

Rhymes aside, let us all bask in the wondrous delight of Superbock's draught beers warming glow. So wonderful and brimming with delights is this occasion on point of fact; that the Kitsch Hostel's knuckle dragging, ruthless, and utterly incorruptible bar manager allowed, very briefly, for the bare-assed dude (Daniel) in a previous post to take full advantage of the occasion.
Rest assured, it won't happening again, although perhaps if you should leave a large pile of money on a table in front of him and it should happen to not be there the next second. Don't be suprised if an impromptu photo oppurtunity should suddenly arise. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink....

Kitsch's Awesome New Tour Offers!

Kitsch Hostel never stops with news! Now we've got two tour programs. If you're looking to slow down and experience the more tranquil side of Portuguese life, now you can take a wonderful tour of Sintra or Cascais.

Sintra is considered not only one of the wonders of Portugal but indeed of Europe, Sintra is truly a gem. Once the royal town of the country, it now deservedly holds UNESCO world heritage status and attracts hordes of visitors throughout the year. Its unusual geography, nestled in a stretch of hills surrounded on all sides by plain, estuary or ocean, and its subsequent climate, which is perhaps more typical of Northern Europe, create a verdant paradise where ornate palaces lie hidden behind tall trees and walled gardens, history abounds and romantics feel that they have at last found their nirvana. The tour to Sintra includes entrance to the Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle, transportation and lunch for only €22.

Cascais lies at the end of one of the suburban train lines out of the capital. This once tiny fishing village has grown in the last century to become the elegant beach town that it is today. Visitors are no stranger to Cascais, having attracted various monarchs over the ages, a summer-dwelling artistic community in the thirties and continued to charm people both Portuguese and foreign ever since. The trip to Cascais includes a cycling tour along the coast, transportation and lunch for only €10.

Happy B'day to Rodrigo From the Kitsch Family!

And so, 24 years have passed since Rodrigo, our favorite Brasilian son, was spawned in the depths of sunny Sao Paulo. Needless to say, not only did we wish him a wonderful time but he was given one by the pleasurable company he received as a birthday gift (see picture). Much drinking, rowdiness, and Brasilian vibes (including deluxe caipirinhas provided by our highly skilled bar team) ensued, and hangovers are still being nursed by several participants.
However, where is Rodrigo now? We haven't seen him since the festivities... Methinks that perhaps he fell under the spell of a certain young lady. At least he won't have to suffer the indignity of having to forfeit safe sex, after all, she's all rubber...

Twice a week, typical portuguese food.

From now on, Kitsch Hostel is promoting some typical Portuguese nights. Jo, our little portuguese girl, a new staff member, is gonna cook Portuguese traditional food. Kitsch Hostel is gonna delight travelers with delicious dishes twice a week. You will be able to try Caldo Verde, Bacalhau à Brás, Bread with Chouriço and, of course, red wine. Each meal will cost 4€, including the drink.

This shaved ass dude is half Australian and half Portuguese, but has a Brazilian soul. He's been living/working here since opening time. A guy so happy he'd buy you a drink after you'd run his dog down with your car. Always walking on rays of sunshine and delighted to see you, Daniel is what everyone would be like if the 60's never ended and ecstasy was prescribed by schoolteachers.

The new sign!

That's is the newest sign created by Rodrigo and João (the naked brazilians). As well as creating masterfull works they work a 9 to 5 in an avertising company. They've been living in Lisbon for 3 months and allready they stolen our hearts. But every night, you can find them sitting (drunk) at the Kitsch Hostel's bar!

The gig was a success!!

I'm still hungover from the gig... It was amazing, and it was a great omen for getting the hostel up and running. Mike played a broad mixture of classic and contemporary folk, blues and rock classics; keeping everyone mesmerized in the process and ensuring that everyone felt a bit rock'n'roll by the end.
The highlight of the night however, was the impromtu singalongs that flared up at the bar involving both guests, staff and stars of the show. The beer flowed freely and an excellent time was had by all. Rest assured, the only two songs anyone was singing by closing time were 'Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced' and 'Show Me the Way to Go Home'.

THE KITSCH DECORATION

When you come into Kitsch Hostel, instantaneously, you'll feel like you entered into another world, it's 'cause the kitsch environment. The hostel was decorated by Bruno Cecílio and Sara Battesti from "E Viveram Felizes para Sempre" (http://www.eviveramfelizesparasempre.com/). They are currently one of the most vanguardists artists in Lisbon and how you can see at the pictures, they transformed us in the most kitsch hostel in the world.

Kitsch Hostel started blogging!

We are a group of young international travellers who's only goal is to provide you with the best possible stay in Lisbon.

The Kitsch Hostel, located in the very heart of Lisbon, is brand new but already has a lot to tell to our guests. Every object is oozing history, giving the living room a cool relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where travellers meet each other and chat over a drink from our bar.

The Kitsch Hostel is in one of the main squares: Praça dos Restauradores. We are at the number 65, over the Santander Totta bank....you'll have to walk through the souvenir shop.
